Chiara Trentin is a cellist and composer whose music explores the intersection of modern classical, electronic, and experimental sound. She began studying music at the age of three and later completed her formal training in classical performance at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim. Her artistic practice gradually expanded to include composition, improvisation, and the investigation of sound through pedals and sampling. Central to her work is the six-string electric cello, which expands the expressive range of the instrument and opens space for layered textures and hybrid forms.

In 2019, Giovanni Sollima selected her to develop a solo project of original compositions for electric cello. Violoncellula, commissioned by the Cello Biennale Amsterdam, premiered at the festival’s 2022 edition at the Concertgebouw. Drawing on baroque forms, ambient textures, and post-minimalist structures, the project has since been presented in a variety of formats, including an immersive version at INNER_SPACES in Milan.

A versatile performer, Chiara Trentin moves between concert stages, theatre productions, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. She is musical director and performer for Il vetro della clessidra, a theatrical work with actor Alessio Boni. She also contributed to the recording of Remo Anzovino’s soundtrack for Pasquale Rotondi: Un Eroe Italiano, and to the music for the permanent installation at the Ponte Morandi Memorial in Genoa. Since 2023, she has been touring with the Italian singer Alice (Eri con Me, Master Songs).
