The project emerged from the desire to compose music specifically for the six-string electric cello, an instrument with a distinctive tone and an extended range. Its unusual structure and sound opened up new creative possibilities, leading me to explore a more personal and expressive way of writing.
Over time the musical material gradually crystallized into two suites, each rooted in a different auditory memory. The first one threads a line back to classical music, reworking the form of the baroque suite through a personal lens. Its dances hold structural and emotional resonances of Bach, while opening to contemporary movement and the vocabulary of modern classical idioms.
The second suite is more intimate as it recalls the sound of a guitar accompanying the voice of a Peter Pan cassette I used to listen to as a child, just before falling asleep. That memory returns here, transformed, filtered through the cello and my love for post-minimalist music.’
The album, co-produced by Giovanni Sollima, was created thanks to the 2018 Anner Bijlsma Prize awarded by the Cello Biennale Amsterdam.

LIVE SET
The project has been performed live regularly, with a setup that has gradually become more refined and sophisticated. The album premiered in a cello solo version at the Bimhuis, during the 2022 edition of the Cello Biennale Amsterdam. In 2024, it was performed at the INNER_SPACES festival in Milan, in an extended and immersive version co-produced with sound engineer Pino Pischetola. In the following concerts, the project continued to evolve, both in its technical configuration and in its musical direction, with an increasing focus on improvisation and real-time interaction.
